Tartan Reimagined

Few patterns hold as much cultural weight — or visual rhythm — as tartan. Rooted in Scottish history, it tells stories of place, clan, and belonging. But in Petra’s hands, the motif finds new life: reimagined with a contemporary spirit and infused with the colours of the Scottish Highlands, the place she calls home.

This collection is a love letter to the landscape — peat, loch, heather, and pine — translated into pattern and brought to life across multiple mediums. The juxtaposing colours of Scottish nature — moody skies against vivid moss, soft heather beside dark water, sunlight flickering on stone — became Petra’s palette and inspiration.

What began as a study of geometry and tradition evolved into a celebration of modern craftsmanship and joyful living. In true Petra Palumbo fashion, the design invites you to pattern-drench your space. The tartan now runs across floor tiles, wall tiles, dado trims, wallpaper, cutlery and even beeswax taper candles, allowing every surface — from walls to tables — to hum in harmony.

It’s a pattern that feels equally at home in a boot room, hallway, or country kitchen — spaces that thrive on warmth, texture, and character. The structured geometry of the tartan brings a sense of order, while its earthy tones ground the room in comfort and familiarity. Whether underfoot or climbing the walls, it turns everyday thresholds into moments of quiet joy.

This is heritage seen through a modern lens — familiar yet fresh, elegant yet full of heart. A story woven from the Highlands, for homes everywhere.
