MISSION & ETHOS
MISSION & ETHOS
Joyful Design
We believe every home should be a celebration of the people and stories within it. That’s why every one of our handcrafted pieces has been designed by Petra to bring colour, warmth and personality to life’s everyday moments.
Artisanal Techniques
There’s a human hand and countless years of expertise behind every Petra Palumbo piece. We’re passionate about preserving and evolving craft techniques both old and new by supporting and partnering with skilled makers around the world.
For People & Planet
Steered by a love for the natural world and its people, we strive to design homewares that will stand the test of time and be passed on through the generations. And we only work with manufacturers whose environmental and labour practices we value and agree with.
SOCIAL IMPACT
SOCIAL IMPACT
Petra has always believed that design can make a positive impact. By choosing small-scale producers, traditional techniques and skilled artisans, we can help support makers and their crafts.
We’re committed to following Fairtrade practices throughout our production. We partner with reputable makers and factories in the UK, France, Italy and the Far East, ensuring they’re fully certified and follow responsible working practices.
By supporting us you are supporting a person, their family and their community.
PROVENANCE
PROVENANCE
We believe in a customer’s right to know the full story behind their purchases. That’s why we’re open about our small supply chain, making sure the information about who made our homewares and where is always available.
Look out for the Design Notes on each product page to find out more.
MATERIALS & CIRCULARITY
MATERIALS & CIRCULARITY
Each Petra Palumbo product has been carefully thought out in terms of its functionality, durability and impact on the planet.
We have considered all our materials in terms of their full life cycle; glass can be recycled in closed loop over and over again, while ceramics are durable and use less energy in the manufacturing process compared to plastic.
All our wallpapers are printed on FSC certified papers.
PACKAGING
PACKAGING
We only use 100% recyclable and sustainably sourced packaging. But we go further by ensuring all products from our UK and European suppliers are delivered to us in plastic free packaging, too.
Our aim is to maintain these standards across our whole supply chain, and we’re in the process of working on sustainable solutions for overseas deliveries.
GIVING BACK
GIVING BACK
At our home in the Highlands, nature is tightly woven into the fabric of the community.
To celebrate this connection and pay tribute to our beloved landscape, we’ve been working with Trees for Life since 2020. With every purchase, you can add a voluntary contribution of £1 at the checkout, which we will match.
With your generous support, we’ve planted hundreds of trees in the Dundreggan Estate in the Scottish Highlands. There they will continue to provide a habitat for a multitude of wildlife, help reduce flooding and soil erosion, absorb carbon from the atmosphere, and secure a future for our forests.
