MISSION & ETHOS
MISSION & ETHOS
Joyful Design
For us, every home is as unique as the people and stories within it. That’s why there’s a human story behind every design; the real hands that made it and the real life that inspired it. Every one of our handcrafted pieces is designed by Petra to bring colour and joy to the everyday moments that mark a well-lived life.
Artisanal Techniques
Our mission is to preserve and evolve traditional artisanal techniques by sharing them with our customers around the world.
For People & Planet
Steered by a love for the natural world and its people, we strive to design high-quality, purpose-led homewares that will stand the test of time and be passed on through the generations. And we only work with manufacturers who’s environmental and labour practices we value and agree with.
SOCIAL IMPACT
SOCIAL IMPACT
Petra has always wanted to design whilst doing good. By choosing small scale producers, traditional techniques and expert craftspeople, we can shine a light on the stories behind the makers.
We are committed to following fair trade practices throughout our production. We work with reputable makers and factories, making sure they all have the right certifications and provide our freelance artisan team members with the freedom to create from home.
By supporting us you are supporting a person, their family and their community out there too. There is a human hand and countless years of expertise behind every Petra Palumbo piece.
PROVENANCE
PROVENANCE
We believe in a customer’s right to know the full story behind their products.
That’s why we have a policy of openness within our small supply chain so you can find out who made your homewares and where. Look out for the details and impact tabs on each product page.
MATERIALS & CIRCULARITY
MATERIALS & CIRCULARITY
Driven by the promise of a better economy, one that is circular, we have considered all our materials in terms of their full life cycle.
Glass was chosen as it can be recycled in closed loop over and over again. Ceramics were chosen for their durability and low energy use compared to plastic.
Each Petra Palumbo product has been carefully thought out in terms of its functionality, durability and impact on the planet.
PACKAGING
PACKAGING
From day one we wanted 100% recyclable and sustainably sourced packaging. But the packaging we used was the easy bit.
We go further by ensuring all the products from our UK and European suppliers are delivered to us in plastic free packaging. We’re in the process of working on sustainable solutions for overseas deliveries too.
We want to maintain that circularity within our whole supply chain, not just the one link in the chain.
GIVING BACK
GIVING BACK
Ask anyone in the Highlands and they’ll tell you how nature is tightly woven into the fabric of the community.
To celebrate this connection and pay tribute to our Highland home, we’ve been partnered with Trees for Life since 2020. With every purchase, you can add a voluntary contribution of £1 at the checkout which we then match.
So far with your generous support, we’ve planted hundreds of trees in the Dundreggan Estate in the Scottish Highlands. There they will continue to provide homes for a multitude of wildlife, help fight flooding and soil erosion, absorb carbon from the atmosphere, and build a future for our forests.
