In Support of War Child
Over the last couple of years, like so many I know, I’ve had an awakening. My bubble burst, and my view of the world twisted into something I couldn’t unsee. I stepped into advocacy almost without meaning to…from sheer heartbreak. I’ve been utterly horrified watching the pure evil inflicted on entire populations; the collective punishment of millions who’ve done nothing to deserve such suffering. And the children, so often the collateral damage of decisions made far beyond their control by people who place greed, power and entitlement over the lives of the most innocent.
But instead of letting that scream swallow me, I’ve tried to turn it into action by using my privilege and voice, however small, to help in any way I can. Because what is the point of privilege if you don’t use it to speak for those who can’t? And what is the point of life without shared humanity?
For me, care has always extended beyond the craft. I’ve long believed that design can nurture empathy just as much as beauty. Working in luxury doesn’t lessen my love for it, but it does create a tension that keeps me grounded and reminds me of the bigger picture. I believe every child is sacred, and that design, at its best, can nurture not only homes but hearts.
That’s why I’ve chosen to support War Child, helping protect, educate and stand up for the rights of children living in war zones. With every purchase on my website, you’ll now have the option to add a voluntary donation at checkout, which we’ll match, a small but meaningful way to turn empathy into action.
At the heart of all this is a simple belief: every human being, every child, deserves equality, justice, dignity and liberation. And I’ll always stand up for them, loud and proud, until my very last breath.
Love,
Petra xx
