DELFT TILES
A Breakfast Nook by Proem Studio
This little corner reads like a love letter to slow mornings and confident pattern play. Wrapped entirely in our Delft tiles in Blue, punctuated with the occasional Green, the banquette becomes both architecture and ornament — a room within a room. There’s something deeply comforting in the way the tiles climb the walls and slip beneath the seat, creating a cocoon that feels intentional, generous and quietly joyful.
Proem Studio embraced contrast and layering, pairing the crisp, graphic rhythm of the tiles with a richly patterned upholstered bench. The mix is bold but beautifully judged: bistro references meet Deco confidence, softened by textiles, curves and light. It’s the kind of space that encourages lingering — coffee in hand, newspaper half-read, conversations stretching longer than planned.
The scale of the tiles gives the nook a playful, almost illustrated quality, while the hand-drawn motifs keep it human and warm. A small, dark table anchors the scene, allowing the patterns to sing without competing, and the natural light pouring through the window animates every surface as the day unfolds.
Beautifully captured by Madeline Tolle, the image shows exactly what we love about tiled spaces when they’re pushed beyond the expected. Not precious. Not shy. Just confident, storied, and made to be lived with — proof that when in doubt, going bold can still feel wonderfully intimate.
