We believe in slowing the pace of consumption and having lasting relationships with the objects in our lives; treasuring them and eventually passing them on. We consider all the raw materials we use in terms of their full life cycle. Such as glass, which can be recycled in closed loop over and over again. Or ceramics, which are natural, durable, and use far less energy than metal or plastic.
“I believe it’s my responsibility as a 21st century designer to think of the impact my company has on the planet.
That’s why I’m so glad these accreditations exist, to acknowledge the work we have already done and continue to hold us accountable in the future.” - Petra
Who will make it? How and where will it be made? From what material? Will it have good circular economy? These are some of the questions we ask ourselves at every point of the design process. From the raw materials to our supply chain and packaging, we take a holistic approach - tackling sustainability from all angles.
We’re far from perfect and still have a lot to learn and refine but here’s what we do so by clicking on the tiles.
From the beginning, we felt strongly about reusing and repurposing cardboard boxes and packing materials. We’ve since refined our packaging and are pleased to say we are now completely plastic free at every stage. We use paper tape, eco-friendly design stickers, and brown Kraft™ paper – all of which are fully recyclable.
We’ve partnered with Trees for Life to offset the carbon footprint of our supply chain. With every purchase, you can add a voluntary contribution of £1 at the checkout which we will match. The trees will be planted in our very own Petra Palumbo grove in the Scottish Highlands where they will provide homes for wildlife and create forests for the future.
