MADE IN BRITAIN

Visiting Our Tile Factory

In November 2024, I visited our tile factory in Stoke-on-Trent with my team. It was amazing to see the processes and machinery used, some even date back to the 1930's!

The craftsmanship of each and every Tile and Tile Trim is really extraordinary; from making the dye (and we're the only business that uses this specific size and format, our 12.5 x 12.5cm tile) then the biscuit, followed by glazing, firing in the kiln, selecting and then packaging up.

Our Tiles are made with so much skill and care, and I love that we're supporting British manufacturing, because honestly, the quality is second to known.

A Little Bit About Stoke-on-Trent

Stoke-on-Trent, known as the "Pottery Capital of the World," has a rich history in ceramics dating back to the 17th century. The city's growth in pottery production boomed during the Industrial Revolution in the 19th century, thanks to local clay deposits and technological advances like steam power and improved transportation.

Famous manufacturers like Wedgwood, Royal Doulton, and Spode helped Stoke become the global centre for ceramic production, specialising in fine bone china, porcelain, and dinnerware.

Although the traditional industry has declined, Stoke's legacy lives on through museums and art galleries that celebrate its pottery heritage, such as the World of Wedgwood and Gladstone Pottery Museum. Today, the city blends its industrial past with modern ceramic artistry.
