Petra's Guide to Inverness
Petra's Guide to Inverness
In 2019, my husband and I moved up to Inverness-shire in the Highlands of Scotland. I'm frequently asked by friends and family for recommendations of things to do in the area, I've been compiling my list for years and here it is for you to enjoy should you be passing through...
EAT & DRINK
Rocpool, Inverness
Delicious, seasonal food with great atmosphere, try the scallops with chorizo or seafood soup, I can't get enough. Must book in advance.
River House, Inverness
Picturesque corner restaurant that all things fresh fish, definitely book prior to going.
Hootananny, Inverness
For authentic live Scottish ceilidh music, it’s such fun to go there after dinner one evening.
Black Isle Brewery, Inverness
Great spot for organic cider, wine, whiskies and wood-fired pizzas made with local ingredients, they also have a secret rooftop garden.
Corner on the Square, Beauly
A great spot for lunch and to stock up on produce from their deli and veg shop for your trip. Spot our Delft tiles on the back wall by the coffee machine!

A family-friendly cafe, deli and bar, I love the breadth of their menus. Always simple but fresh and delicious.
Sutor Creek, Cromarty
Always a joy eating here, it offers fresh Scottish seafood, seasonal menus, and wood-fired pizzas.
SHOP
Leakey’s Bookshop, Inverness
It’s like stepping into another world, this second hand book sho is one of my favourite places to get lost in for hours.
Circa Botanica, Belladrum Near Beauly
An emporium of botanically inspired antiques, aesthetic treasures for your home & exquisite gifts. Stop off there on your way to Beauly.
