We use recycled paper, stickers and cards and paper-based packaging materials where possible.
Is at the core of everything we do.
We believe in slowing the pace of consumption so we can have lasting relationships with the objects in our lives; taking care of them and eventually passing them on.
We consider all our raw materials in terms of their full life cycle. That’s why we use a lot of glass which can be recycled in closed loop, over and over again; and ceramics which are natural, durable and use far less energy than metal or plastic.
“I believe it’s my responsibility as a 21st century designer to think of the impact my company has on the planet. That’s why I’m so glad these accreditations exist, to acknowledge the work we have already done and continue to hold us accountable in the future.” - Petra
Who will make it? How and where will it be made? From what material? Will it have good circular economy?
These are some of the questions we ask ourselves at every point of the design process. From the raw materials to our supply chain and packaging, we take a holistic approach - tackling sustainability from all angles.
We’re far from perfect and still have a lot to learn and refine but here’s what we do so far.
We have a policy of openness within our supply chain, view our supplier map by clicking on the icon.Openness Map
We have a mission to eliminate single use plastic wherever possible.
Minimal toxicity by using water-based, solvent free inks.
We design for longevity therefore reducing the need to consume.
All products are proudly Made in Britain with the exception of a few products which is stated on our openness map.
We support and work with skilled craftsmen and reputable manufacturers.
We promote and use organic, sustainable and fair trade materials.
We repurpose vintage goods giving them a new lease of life.
From day one we felt strongly about reusing and repurposing cardboard boxes, packing paper and bubble wrap. Since then we’ve refined our packaging, making it completely plastic free. We use paper tape, eco-friendly design stickers, dissolvable peanuts and brown Kraft™ paper - all of which are fully recyclable and biodegradable.
trees for life
We’ve partnered with Trees for Life on something that’s very close to our hearts. For every purchase, you can add a voluntary contribution of £1 at the checkout, which we’ll match to plant our very own Petra Palumbo grove. The trees will be carefully planted in the Scottish Highlands where they will create homes for wildlife and provide forests for the future.
